How Much Is Super Duolingo? Pricing, Billing and Family Plan Cost Explained

Super Duolingo does not have one price that can safely be applied to every account. Check the offer shown to you for the correct country, platform, plan and billing period. The official US Apple listing checked on 24 October 2026 includes several Super Duolingo purchase amounts, including US$9.99, US$12.99, US$83.99 and US$119.99, without clearly labelling every duration in the public purchase list.

Those entries are evidence that multiple offers exist, not a reason to assign the cheapest amount to your account or call a particular entry the Family price. The subscription screen showing the plan, total and term is the relevant quote.

This guide explains how to compare that quote, distinguish annual billing from a monthly equivalent, and calculate a Family plan’s real cost per person.

How much is Duolingo Super for your account?

Start from the official Duolingo website or app using the account you intend to keep. Open the subscription offer and inspect the complete price before confirming.

Record four details: currency, amount due, period covered and renewal amount. If a trial appears, record its end date as a fifth detail.

The US Apple product listing can provide context for US iOS offers. It does not establish a Nigerian price, a web price or the billing period of every similarly named purchase entry.

Avoid comparing an old screenshot from another country with today’s checkout as if both are identical products. A useful comparison keeps the country, currency, account and billing channel explicit.

Monthly price and annual monthly equivalent are different

A yearly offer may display a small amount “per month” while charging for the whole year at once. Divide the annual total by twelve to compare it with monthly billing, but keep the actual payment schedule visible.

For a purely illustrative example, suppose an annual offer were 120 currency units and a monthly option were 15. The annual monthly equivalent would be 10, but the amount collected upfront would still be 120.

At those hypothetical figures, eight monthly payments equal the annual total. Someone who expects only three months of use would spend 45 monthly rather than 120 annually. Someone who reliably uses the service all year would assess the annual saving differently.

Use your actual displayed prices in this calculation. The example is a method, not a current Duolingo quote.

What Super changes compared with Free

Duolingo continues to provide a free learning experience. Its official Super information describes benefits such as removing ads and additional practice access, with the exact experience depending on the available offer.

The buying decision should be about learning friction. If ads or practice restrictions repeatedly cut short a useful session, a paid plan may improve the routine. If you rarely open the app, a subscription alone is unlikely to create consistency.

Before paying annually, test whether you already have a sustainable habit. A cheaper effective monthly rate does not help much if you stop learning after the first few weeks.

Our assessment of whether Super Duolingo is worth it focuses on that learning-value question rather than billing arithmetic.

Super Duolingo Family plan cost: calculate with real participants

Duolingo’s Family plan explanation describes six accounts under one plan, including the manager. It explicitly allows invitations beyond a narrow definition of family.

That is different from services that require every member to live at the same address. Read Duolingo’s current terms rather than importing Netflix or Spotify household rules.

To work out cost per person, divide the actual plan total by the number of participating users. Then divide by the number of months covered if you want a monthly equivalent.

For example, if a hypothetical twelve-month group plan cost 144 currency units, six active participants would average 24 each for the year. Three participants would average 48 each. The provider still collects the plan’s actual payment according to checkout; these divisions are budgeting arrangements within the group.

A full group is a calculation, not a guarantee

Family-plan advertisements often show the lowest per-person figure using every available place. Your own cost depends on how many people actually join and contribute.

Before buying, decide who manages the subscription, how the group handles reimbursement, and what happens if a person stops using it. Keep the arrangement straightforward and use the official invitation system.

Each person should use their own account. Sharing one password can mix progress, create login problems and give another person unnecessary control.

Do not rely on unknown future members to make a purchase affordable. Compare the price using the people who have already agreed to join.

Compare the website and app-store offer carefully

The website and mobile stores are separate purchase channels. Check the final plan, currency, term and applicable taxes in the channel you intend to use.

Do not subscribe in two places while comparing. An existing paid subscription or trial should be understood before you confirm another offer.

Save the receipt and identify who manages renewal. The listening or learning app is not always the place where billing changes are completed.

If your payment method fails, investigate the specific error and provider requirements. Repeated attempts without checking for pending charges can make the situation harder to reconcile.

Free trials require a renewal decision

A trial is an evaluation opportunity, not a permanent discount. Read the account-specific length and the amount charged afterwards; official pages can advertise different trial offers.

Set a reminder before the cancellation deadline shown in your offer. Use the trial to answer practical questions: do you learn more consistently, use the practice tools and complete worthwhile sessions?

Duolingo’s cancellation instructions explain the appropriate management routes. Uninstalling the app does not establish that recurring billing has stopped.

Check the final account or store confirmation after cancellation and retain it until the next statement is reconciled.

Do not confuse Super with Max or other offers

Duolingo has described additional paid products and features, including Max. Their availability and pricing should be checked separately.

A Super price should not be presented as the price of every AI conversation feature advertised elsewhere. Read the features named on your actual subscription screen.

For the current distinction, consult Duolingo’s Max explanation. Purchase based on an offered capability, not an assumption that every premium product includes the same tools.

A short purchase checklist

Before confirming, make sure you can answer:

For an independent marketplace offer, also establish the delivery method, account control, duration and support terms. A listing title is not equivalent to Duolingo’s own checkout.

Compare the total you will pay, not the lowest headline

Use the account-specific quote, keep annual and monthly amounts separate, and calculate group costs with the participants you actually have. Do not label an unqualified app-store amount as a universal price.

Super can be a useful purchase when it improves a learning routine. The best billing option is the one whose full cost and renewal terms fit how long you expect to use it.
