How to Subscribe to Apple Music with MTN in Nigeria: Codes, Price and Cancellation

You can subscribe to Apple Music with your MTN line and pay from airtime, without a debit card. MTN's Apple Music plan has been priced at ₦1,000 to ₦1,300 for 30 days depending on the package shown at checkout, and eligible customers have been offered a free introductory period. You activate it by SMS, USSD, the myMTN app or the MTN Play portal, then sign in to the Apple Music app.

The steps below reflect MTN's published instructions and customer-care responses reviewed in October 2026. MTN changes codes and prices from time to time, so confirm the amount on the confirmation screen before you accept a charge.

What you need before you start

• An active MTN Nigeria line with enough airtime for the paid plan.
• A NIN-linked line. MTN ties free-offer eligibility to a valid NIN linked to the number, and only one number per NIN can claim the free offer.
• The Apple Music app. It is built in on iPhone, iPad and Mac. On Android, install Apple Music from the Google Play Store (Android 5.0 or later).
• Data or Wi-Fi. The subscription covers music access, not data. Streaming uses your data bundle unless a specific offer says otherwise.

How to subscribe to Apple Music with MTN

Option 1: SMS

1. For the paid plan, text P to 8000.
2. For the free introductory offer, if you are eligible, text MUSIC to 8000.
3. Open the confirmation page or message MTN sends and approve the subscription.
4. Follow the activation link in the SMS to connect the plan to your Apple Account.

Option 2: USSD

MTN has routed Apple Music through its value-added-services menus. Customers have been directed to **\*447# (New Services, then Apple Music), and MTN customer care has also referenced \*480\*5#** and older menus. Choose Free or Paid, confirm, and wait for the activation SMS. If one code no longer shows Apple Music, try the myMTN app instead of guessing other codes.

Option 3: myMTN app or MTN Play

1. Open the myMTN NG app (Android or iOS) or the MTN Play website.
2. Find Apple Music under entertainment or value-added services.
3. Pick the package, check the price and validity, and confirm payment from airtime.
4. Complete activation from the link or on-screen instructions.

Linking the MTN plan to the Apple Music app

After you confirm, MTN sends a link that opens Apple Music and asks you to sign in with an Apple Account. Use the account you will keep long term, because your library and playlists live there. On Android, sign in inside the Apple Music app with the same Apple Account. If the app still asks you to pay, close it, open the activation link again from the SMS, and make sure you are signed in to the correct account.

How much does Apple Music on MTN cost?

MTN has quoted ₦1,000 for 30 days in its Apple Music FAQ, and its customer care has since confirmed a ₦1,300 monthly fee for subscriptions through some channels. Plans billed through MTN cover the individual Apple Music membership. MTN has stated that Student and Family plans are not supported through its Apple Music service, so families who want to share should look at Apple's own Family plan instead.

Renewal: what happens after 30 days

MTN renews the plan automatically only if you chose auto-renewal and have not unsubscribed. If your airtime is too low on the renewal date, the renewal can fail and your access will pause. Keep enough airtime or switch off auto-renewal and renew manually when you want it.

For the free introductory offer, note the start date. Once the free period ends, the plan can move to the paid rate if renewal is active.

How to cancel Apple Music on MTN

Text one of these to 8000: STOP MUSIC, CANCEL MUSIC or END MUSIC. You should receive a confirmation SMS. Access normally continues until the end of the period you already paid for or the end of your free period.

Deleting the Apple Music app does not cancel MTN billing. If you also started a separate subscription through Apple, check Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions on iPhone, or the account menu in the Android app, and cancel that one separately.

Troubleshooting common problems

"I subscribed but Apple Music still asks me to pay"

The activation link was probably not completed, or you signed in to a different Apple Account. Reopen the MTN link and sign in with the right account.

"I did not receive the confirmation SMS"

Check that your line is active and NIN-linked, then retry from the myMTN app. MTN has also pointed customers to **\*447\*3#** when the MUSIC confirmation does not arrive.

"My airtime was deducted twice"

Stop retrying and contact MTN on 180 with the date, time and amounts. Repeated attempts make it harder to trace the original charge.

"Songs will not play offline"

MTN billing vs other ways to pay

Paying through MTN suits people without a working card, or who prefer airtime budgets. Yes. Install Apple Music from the Play Store and sign in with the Apple Account you linked during activation.

Can I move my subscription to another MTN number?

MTN has described a transfer by SMS to 8000 for numbers on the same NIN. Check the current instruction with MTN before relying on it.

Does the subscription include data?
