Apple Music Subscription Price in Nigeria: Which Plan Should You Choose?
Adekiya Joscor · 27 October 2026
Apple Music's individual plan in Nigeria now costs about ₦1,700 a month when you pay Apple directly, after rising from ₦1,300 in 2026. iCloud+ subscribers can get Apple Music at a reduced ₦1,500 a month (individual) or ₦2,500 a month (family), and MTN customers can pay from airtime at around ₦1,000 to ₦1,300 for 30 days. Student and family prices are shown in the app to eligible accounts.
Apple has changed Nigerian prices several times since 2022, so the price on your own subscription screen is the one that counts. Figures here were reviewed in October 2026.
Apple Music prices in Nigeria at a glance
- Individual (paid to Apple) — about ₦1,700 per month after the 2026 increase. It was ₦1,000 from late 2022 and ₦1,300 from June 2025.
- Individual with iCloud+ — reported at ₦1,500 per month for the person paying for iCloud+, as part of Apple's September 2026 bundle changes.
- Family with iCloud+ — reported at ₦2,500 per month, shared with up to five other Family Sharing members.
- Family (standalone) — up to six people through Family Sharing. Check the current price in the Music app under Account > Manage Subscription before you switch.
- Student — a discounted plan for verified university students. See our Apple Music Student guide for eligibility.
- MTN airtime billing — ₦1,000 to ₦1,300 for 30 days depending on the package, individual only. Steps are in our MTN Apple Music guide.
Why Apple Music costs more than it used to
Apple sets prices in naira for the Nigerian App Store and updates them when exchange rates and local costs shift. Subscribers received notice before each change and were billed the new amount from their next renewal unless they cancelled. Annual budgeting at today's individual price comes to about ₦20,400 if the rate does not change again.
The iCloud+ bundle: a cheaper route for Apple users
In September 2026, Apple expanded iCloud+ in Nigeria. The ₦1,300 monthly 50GB plan now includes Apple TV and Apple Arcade, plus Apple Music Select, a limited radio-style listening tier. The person who pays for iCloud+ can also add full Apple Music at a discount.
If you already pay for extra iCloud storage, this can make full Apple Music cheaper than buying it alone. If you only want music and do not need storage, the standalone individual plan or MTN billing is simpler. Our Apple TV in Nigeria guide explains the rest of the bundle.
Which Apple Music plan should you choose?
Individual: one listener
Choose individual if you are the only listener. You get the full catalogue, lossless and spatial audio on supported devices, lyrics, downloads and personalised playlists.
Family: households of two or more
The family plan covers up to six people through Apple's Family Sharing, each with their own library and recommendations. Everyone needs their own Apple Account and must be added to your Family Sharing group. If three or more people would otherwise pay individually, family is almost always cheaper per person. See our Apple Music Family plan guide.
Student: verified university students
Student pricing is available to students verified through Apple's partner process at eligible institutions, and lasts up to 48 months while you remain eligible. It is the cheapest direct way to get full Apple Music if you qualify.
MTN: no card needed
MTN's airtime-billed plan suits people without a card that works for international payments. It is individual only; MTN does not offer the family or student plans.
Free trial and offers
Apple regularly offers new subscribers a free first month, and longer trials sometimes come with new Apple devices or partner promotions. Trials renew automatically into a paid plan, so set a reminder. Our Apple Music free trial guide covers eligibility and how to avoid the first charge.
How to pay
Apple accepts most Nigerian debit and credit cards that allow international or App Store transactions, Apple Account balance and, for MTN customers, airtime. If your card is declined, check your bank's international limit and whether a previous charge is pending. Our guide to paying for Apple Music in Nigeria walks through each option.
Renewal and cancellation
Apple Music renews monthly until cancelled. To cancel on iPhone, go to Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Apple Music. On Android, open Apple Music, tap the menu, then Account > Manage Subscription. You keep access until the end of the paid period. MTN plans are cancelled through MTN, not Apple.
Apple Music vs Spotify on price
Spotify's Nigerian prices are also set in naira and have risen over time; see our Spotify Premium Nigeria prices. Apple Music includes lossless audio at no extra cost and integrates tightly with iPhone, while Spotify has a free tier and stronger podcast features. If you are on Android and already use Spotify, switching mainly for price rarely saves much.

Common questions
Is Apple Music available on Android in Nigeria?
Yes. Install Apple Music from the Google Play Store and sign in with an Apple Account. See our Apple Music on Android guide.
Does Apple Music include Apple TV?
No. In Nigeria, Apple TV comes with iCloud+, not with an Apple Music subscription.
Why does my price differ from the one in this guide?
You may be on an older price until your next renewal, on an iCloud+ discount, or on MTN billing. Your subscription screen shows your actual amount.
Summary
For one listener paying Apple directly, budget about ₦1,700 a month. If you pay for iCloud+, check the discounted ₦1,500 individual or ₦2,500 family price. Families and students should look at those plans first, and MTN airtime billing is the card-free fallback.
