Apple Music Student Plan in Nigeria: Eligibility and Verification
Adekiya Joscor · 27 October 2026
Apple Music offers a discounted Student plan for people enrolled at a university or college, and Nigeria has been among the countries where student membership is offered since Apple expanded it in 2018. Students verify through UNiDAYS, Apple's verification partner, and can keep the discount for up to 48 months while they remain eligible. The plan gives the same full Apple Music catalogue as the individual plan at a lower monthly price.
Apple shows the student price for your account in the Music app. This guide reflects Apple's student-membership process as reviewed in October 2026; availability of individual universities depends on UNiDAYS.
Who is eligible?
- Students currently enrolled at a degree-granting university or college, including polytechnics and colleges recognised by UNiDAYS.
- Your Apple Account must be set to a country where student membership is offered.
- Secondary-school students are not eligible.
- You must not have used the student discount for more than 48 months in total.
If your institution is not recognised by UNiDAYS, you will not be able to verify, even if you are a genuine student.
How much does the student plan cost?
The student plan is priced well below the individual plan, which is about ₦1,700 a month in Nigeria when paid to Apple directly. Open Apple Music, go to the subscription options, and select Student to see your exact naira price before you confirm. For a comparison of every Apple Music plan, see our Apple Music price guide.
How to verify and subscribe
- On iPhone, open the Music app and tap Listen Now or the subscription offer. On Android, open Apple Music and go to Account > Manage Subscription.
- Choose Student. You will be sent to UNiDAYS.
- Sign in to UNiDAYS or create an account, then choose your institution.
- Verify with your institution's login, a student email or by uploading proof of enrolment, depending on what your school supports.
- Return to Apple Music and confirm the subscription with your Apple Account payment method.
If you already have an individual subscription, switching to Student replaces it at the next billing date or immediately, depending on the option shown.
Staying verified
Apple and UNiDAYS check your eligibility periodically, usually around each anniversary. If you cannot re-verify, for example because you have graduated, your plan moves to the individual price. The 48-month limit is cumulative, so time spent on the student plan at any point counts.
What the student plan includes
- The full Apple Music catalogue with no ads.
- Lossless and spatial audio on supported devices.
- Downloads for offline listening; see downloading songs on Apple Music.
- Access on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, Windows and the web.
In some countries Apple bundles extras such as Apple TV with the student plan. In Nigeria, Apple TV is part of iCloud+, so do not assume it is included with Apple Music Student. See Apple TV in Nigeria.
Common verification problems
"My university is not listed"
UNiDAYS only lists institutions it can verify. Search for the full official name and abbreviation. If it is missing, contact UNiDAYS support; you may not be able to use the student plan until your school is added.
"I do not have a school email"
Many Nigerian institutions do not issue student emails. Look for a document-upload option and use a current, legible ID card or admission or registration letter showing your name, institution and current session.
"Verification was approved but Apple still charges full price"
Make sure you completed the final subscription step in Apple Music with the same Apple Account, and check Settings > your name > Subscriptions to confirm the plan says Student.
Alternatives if you are not eligible
- Pay for the individual plan through Apple or your MTN line; see Apple Music with MTN.
- Join a real Apple Music Family plan run by a parent or guardian in your household.
